Helen Girling is an Essex based artist who studied at Central Saint Martins School of Art. Her background in fashion is given expression in her work providing it with a contemporary illustrative effect. Sensitivity is at the heart of her work, often finding the beauty in small, ordinary moments in a modern world.
The Black Moon Collection is Helen’s latest series which invites the viewer to imagine echoes from the past and the future in abstract forms of black circles, shadows and light. The black moons are painted in Japanese ink on Khadi paper, in one or two uninhibited brushstrokes, to express a moment when the mind is free.
